PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Responsible for accounting related recordkeeping, reconciliations and summarizing thereof for management perusal – timeously and correctly. Responsible for monitoring, checking and handling of control accounts according to company policies and procedures as well as supporting the Financial Manager with taxation, costing, audit and other tasks.

KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and post accurate accruals and provisions as required in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure expenses are accurately accounted for in correct GLs and accounting periods.
  • Calculate interest due/accrued for all intercompany loans.
  • Prepare and balance monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare and post monthly journals and reconciliations.
  • Communicate with various departments to ensure timely completion of monthly tasks.
  • Prepare and submit monthly indirect taxes on ITAS and SARS.
  • Champion VAT audits as needed for NAMRA and SARS.
  • Act as Liaison for the company with Namra as per MOU for AEO Accredited Status to Namib Mills (Pty) Ltd.
  • Recordkeeping in accordance with statutory requirements and company policies of all VAT documentation.
  • Review and release daily and monthly payments.
  • Review and verify new vendor applications daily and assist with pricing/costing calculations.
  • Communicate with the bank on general tasks and manage corporate bank queries.
  • Manage corporate credit and fuel cards and prepare corresponding reconciliations.
  • Performing ad hoc duties as per instruction from your supervisor or management.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION

  • Grade 12 (NQF4) with a relevant Diploma in Accounting.
  • Five (5) years relevant working experience, which includes debtors, creditors and general ledger experience.  
  • Experience in FMCG and manufacturing will be an added advantage.
  • Proficient in English, being bilingual will be an added advantage.
  • Computer literate with good mastering of Microsoft Suite.      
  • Experience with relevant software, ACCPAC system knowledge will be an added advantage.
  • Namibian citizen.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Willing to work overtime and weekends
