The 2025 RealGood Braai Championship kicked off its Round 1 in Windhoek on 4 October at Bix Car Wash in Katutura, bringing more than just fire and flavour to the capital. This vibrant event, hosted by RealGood Chicken, is not only a celebration of Namibia’s rich braai culture but also a powerful platform for informal business development.
The championship aims to uplift street vendors and small-scale food entrepreneurs by turning their everyday hustle into a pathway for growth. Contestants from across the country are showcasing their braai skills, community spirit and entrepreneurial drive — proving that with passion and opportunity, small businesses can thrive. At the heart of this initiative is the grand prize: a fully kitted business container to the value of N$150,000, complete with the tools and equipment needed to start or expand any informal food business. This prize represents more than victory; it’s a chance to build a sustainable livelihood and empower local talent in the informal sector.
Through this championship with main sponsors such as Coca-Cola, Chartered Investment and Tafel Lager, RealGood Chicken continues to live its promise of supporting Namibians at grassroots level, transforming the nation’s favourite pastime — the braai — into a catalyst for economic empowerment and community growth. Round 1 kicked off with a bang hosting 10 skilled informal food business owners battling it out for the top three (3) spots that will battle it out in the final round on 6 December 2025. The final will feature the coastal and northern top 3 regional winners so the pressure is on!!!
