PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The Group Projects & Efficiency Manager leads and coordinates all CAPEX and efficiency improvement projects across the NMI and NMS Group in Namibia, Botswana, Eswatini, South Africa, and Mauritius. The role drives engineering, production, and operational initiatives that support the Group’s goals of productivity, cost optimisation, sustainability, and continuous improvement through effective application of industrial engineering and project management principles.

KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Procurement Management

  • Lead the planning, budgeting, and execution of all Group CAPEX projects from concept to commissioning.
  • Coordinate cross-entity project portfolios, ensuring alignment with Group strategic and financial objectives.
  • Develop and maintain Group project management frameworks, standards, and reporting tools.
  • Facilitate project feasibility studies, ROI analyses, and risk assessments.
  • Oversee contractor and supplier management to ensure compliance with budgetary, quality, safety, and timeline expectations.

Operational Efficiency & Continuous Improvement:

  • Drive operational excellence through Lean, Six Sigma, and industrial engineering methodologies.
  • Identify and implement process improvement opportunities to reduce waste, optimise plant layout, and improve throughput.
  • Benchmark and monitor energy, water, and waste efficiencies across the Group.
  • Partner with site managers to institutionalise data-driven performance tracking and standard operating improvements.

CAPEX Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure all CAPEX projects adhere to Group policies, approval thresholds, legislative requirements and governance requirements.
  • Prepare and present project proposals, progress reports, and completion reviews to the Executive Committee and Board.
  • Maintain a centralised CAPEX database and project performance dashboard.
  • Support annual budgeting and forecasting for capital investments.
  • Co-ordinate the preparation of annual, medium-term term and long-term CAPEX budgets for the Group.

Cross-Functional and Cross-Group Collaboration

  • Work closely with Engineering, Production, Finance, Procurement, and SHEQ departments to integrate efficiency goals into daily operations.
  • Provide technical and project leadership support to site engineering and maintenance teams.
  • Build capacity across business units through coaching, knowledge-sharing, and project management training.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs)

  • Number of CAPEX projects delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Measured improvement in production efficiency, yield, or cost reduction.
  • Compliance with Group CAPEX governance standards.
  • Number of implemented process improvement initiatives and achieved ROI.
  • Stakeholder satisfaction and cross-site collaboration effectiveness.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. A postgraduate degree in a related field would be an added advantage.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent will be advantageous.
  • Minimum 8–10 years’ experience in industrial/manufacturing/FMCG environments, with at least 5 years in a senior project management or engineering leadership role.
  • Proven track record of leading multi-site CAPEX and process improvement projects.
  • Experience within FMCG, food manufacturing, or agro-processing industries preferred.

OTHER

  • Proficient in English, being bilingual will be an added advantage.
  • Proficient in MS Office Project or equivalent project management software.
  • Financial acumen in CAPEX planning, cost control, and ROI analysis.
  • Knowledge of plant utilities, production systems, and automation technologies.
  • Excellent data analysis and reporting skills.
  • Namibian Citizenship.
  • Willing to work overtime and weekends if required.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Deadline-driven and results-oriented.
